Not When You're Listening

You don’t like talking about your feelings
Except for when you’re drinking
And you snapchat me telling me you miss me
After I leave the party early

You and I we’re not great at talking
You know that frustrates me
So you taunt me by asking what I’m thinking
I just blush and call you stupid

I guess I haven’t been that forthcoming
I tell you you’re pretty
Once every thousand times I think it
But every time I mean it

I just wanna be clear
I just haven’t been here before
And I don’t know how to tell you
You’re the prettiest girl I’ve seen
Before I met you
Thought my heart had gone numb to
The beautiful things in this life
I’d forgotten how it felt to
Smile when you’re near me
Smile when you’re far from me
I’m fine with a memory
Though I’d prefer to kiss the real thing
See I can say it just fine
If you could just read my mind
I say is all of the time
Just not when you’re listening

A couple hours after our first kiss
You posted on your finsta
And tagged your location on the moon
Like a secret just for me and you

I get so nervous when we say goodbye
Do I kiss you goodnight?
Or just give you a smile and see ya later?
You must think I’m such a loser

But then you look at me with those brown eyes
And you give me that smile
And all the weight lifts off my shoulders
As we start to lean in closer
